Pre-Departure Lecture for SHSID Seniors
On March 18, an informing lecture was organized for SHSID seniors, who soon will depart the school to become university freshmen. This lecture, which aimed to give a comprehensive overview of higher education, was delivered by Mr. Roberts to offer seniors insight about university studies.

The core of the lecture focused on the practical realities of university life. Academically, students should anticipate a challenging environment where they will not always be the smartest person in the room. “Adjust your expectations,” he advised. He emphasized the importance of key skills like time management, organization, and avoiding procrastination. “Start outlining early, be organized, and manage your schedule for what you want to do in the future.”
Addressing the social and personal aspects of university, Mr. Roberts introduced the concept of “THE TRIANGLE”: sleep, GPA, and social life, encouraging students to find a healthy balance. Mr. Roberts also touched upon the emotional journey and health and asked students to see challenges as opportunities to grow and stay positive.

To conclude, Mr. Roberts left the students with a final thought: “Everyone is born with certain advantages. Your job at university is to figure out what kind of person you are and what kind of career you want to go into. Be prepared to work hard, be good to the people around you, and never stop moving forward.”
