Puxi Campus G1-3: Spring Fire Drill

March 27, 2026

On March 25, all teachers and students from Grades 1 to 3 at the Puxi campus of Shanghai High School International Division successfully carried out the second fire evacuation drill of the academic year. The activity aimed to help students and staff master emergency response procedures in the event of a fire--staying calm, evacuating in an orderly manner, and taking scientifically sound protective measures--thereby effectively enhancing their self-protection abilities.

Prior to the drill, teachers gave engaging explanations to introduce key fire safety knowledge: remember China's fire emergency number, 119; in heavy smoke, bend low, cover your nose and mouth, and move forward in a crouched position; if clothing catches fire, follow the "stop, drop, and roll" principle; and at a fire scene, do not turn back or hide--seek help from firefighters immediately.

During the drill, all students remained serious and well-organized. When the alarm sounded, everyone promptly stopped their activities and, under teachers' guidance, evacuated quickly, quietly, and in an orderly manner to designated safe areas. Attendance was then taken. The entire process was standardized, efficient, and smoothly coordinated.

In addition to the on-campus drill, the school designed tailored home fire safety assignments for each grade to promote collaboration between school and families and encourage full participation. First graders completed parent-child safety checklists and interactive quizzes; second graders worked with their families to identify emergency meeting points and draw evacuation route maps; third graders reviewed household fire safety habits and developed family safety improvement plans. These activities extend fire safety awareness into the home and integrate it into daily life.

This drill further strengthened the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of all teachers and students. In particular, first graders showed greater composure and better coordination compared to their first drill last semester. As an essential part of life education, fire safety education is conducted regularly and consistently at our school. With ongoing, well-structured fire drills and safety education, students' safety literacy will continue to improve, building a strong foundation for a safe and secure campus.
