IOLC China Preliminary Competition Success: High School Students Advance to Academic Exploration Camp

March 31, 2026

In early March 2026, the results of the International Linguistics Olympiad China (IOLC) preliminary competition were announced. A total of 17 students from our high school division registered for this year's competition, with many boldly challenging themselves by participating in the more advanced professional group, demonstrating our students' strong interest in linguistic research.

In the Junior level group competition, 9 participating students delivered outstanding performances, winning 2 High Distinction Awards, 4 Distinction Awards, and 2 Merit Awards. Particularly noteworthy is that 8 students from this group successfully advanced to the national finals (Academic Exploration Camp).

The professional group competition was even more intense. All 8 participating students lived up to expectations, securing 2 High Distinction Awards, 2 Distinction Awards, and 3 Merit Awards. This group achieved a perfect advancement rate, with all 8 students qualifying for the finals. Additionally, two other students from the professional group had already secured their spots at the Academic Exploration Camp based on their previous excellent performances. In total, 18 students from SHSID high school have advanced to the national finals and will represent the school in pursuit of higher honors.

Behind these excellent results lies the long term efforts of Linguistics Club. Under the guidance of the club instructor and the club presidents, the club has established a solid foundation in linguistic thinking for participating students through systematic daily training and a mentorship tradition of "experienced members guiding newcomers."

Finally, we wish all the advancing students the best of luck as they compete at the Academic Exploration Camp in Nanjing this April, and look forward to seeing them showcase our school's academic excellence once again!
