Puxi Campus G8: Youth on Stage— Grade 8 Talent Show 2026 Talent Show
To showcase students' diverse talents and foster a vibrant and positive grade culture, the Grade 8 Talent Show was successfully held in the Big Auditorium on March 26, 2026. Following a competitive selection process, 11 outstanding performances were chosen to take the stage.
This year's show featured not only singing, dancing, and instrumental performances but also introduced a comedy skit for the first time, enriching the diversity of artistic expression. With the dedication of two hosts and 26 performers, the event delivered a dynamic and engaging audiovisual experience for the audience.
Part 01 Melodies in Motion, Emotions in Harmony
The show opened with "As Good a Reason," performed by Joydi from Class 8(9). With a gentle yet expressive voice, she brought out the emotional depth of the song, drawing the audience into its narrative.
This was followed by "Sincerely," performed by a band consisting of 8(2)'s Vivian, 8(6)'s Alina, 8(9)'s Jenny, and 8(10)'s Sharon. Their strong coordination and delicate interpretation created a soft, dreamlike atmosphere that offered a calming and immersive listening experience.
Janna from Class 8(6) then reinterpreted a classic piece with her own distinctive style, breathing new life into a familiar melody. Liana from Class 8(2) performed "Try," delivering a heartfelt message of perseverance and resilience, which resonated strongly with the audience.
In addition, Oliver, Melody, Carolin, and Chloe presented "Beautiful" from the musical Heathers. Their powerful vocals and energetic rhythm added narrative depth and vitality to the stage.
Part 02 Rhythm in Motion, Energy Unleashed
The dance performances showcased the vibrancy and energy of youth through diverse styles.
8(1)'s Miffy, 8(11)'s Yaya, 8(8)'s Ivory, and 8(12)'s Arabella presented a K-pop dance medley combining the lively charm of "Gee" and the rhythmic intensity of "Focus." Their confident stage presence and synchronized movements created a visually engaging performance.
Following this, 8(9)'s Zoe, 8(10)'s Leyla, Irene, and 8(11)'s Holly delivered a high-energy dance medley featuring "I Am the Best," "Fire," "Can't Nobody," and "MONEY." Their powerful execution and strong stage energy ignited the atmosphere and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Part 03 Instrumental Flow, Poetic Expression
Instrumental and lyrical performances added depth and contrast to the overall program.
Alina and Janna from Class 8(6) performed the song "Ji Nian," presenting a moving duet that conveyed emotion with clarity and balance, allowing the audience to reflect on memory and connection through music.
Abigail from Class 8(10) delivered a vocal performance inspired by natural imagery, using her clear voice to evoke a poetic connection between humanity and nature.
Shouhan from Class 8(3) performed "Poem of the Wind," creating a serene and spacious atmosphere through gentle, flowing melodies. The music unfolded like a quiet landscape, offering the audience a moment of calm and reflection.
The event also included the award ceremony for the 2026 SHSID Piano Competition, recognizing outstanding student achievements and enriching the artistic depth of the program.
Part 04 Creative Expression, A New Stage Breakthrough
The finale, "Project X," stood out as a highlight of the event. Performed by 8(3)'s Joanna, Claire Yu, Peter, Souta, Jasmine Zhou, and 8(12)'s Louis, this comedy skit marked the first appearance of such a format in the Grade 8 talent show.
With clear structure, natural acting, and well-timed humor, the performance generated continuous laughter and applause. The confidence and coordination displayed on stage reflected the team's careful preparation and collaboration, bringing the show to a lively and memorable close.
Conclusion Expressing Youth, Growing Through Diversity
The talent show concluded successfully amid warm applause. The variety of performances came together to form a vivid portrait of youth—featuring energetic dance, expressive music, and innovative stage forms.
Through this platform, students not only showcased their talents and interests but also developed confidence, creativity, and teamwork through collaboration and expression.
More than a performance, the talent show served as an opportunity for students to better understand themselves, express individuality, and appreciate one another.
As they move forward, we hope students will continue to pursue their passions and explore broader stages, growing with confidence and purpose.
