Grade 10 Assembly: TEDx Talk and Long-Distance Cycling Sharing

April 8, 2026

On the morning of April 1, all Grade 10 students gathered in the B1 Theater of Zhongxing Building for the semester’s grade-level morning assembly. The assembly featured a presentation on “TEDx SHSID: The Human Equation” and a sharing session by two students on their long-distance cycling experiences.

During the TEDx segment, the organizers introduced the annual conference to be held on June 6 at the same theater, themed “The Human Equation,” and encouraged students to participate. Following that, two students shared their recent long-distance cycling journeys. They presented cycling data from routes including a circumnavigation of Hainan Island starting from Haikou, as well as a ride from Shenzhen to Xuwen County, with the longest total distance exceeding 1,100 kilometers, an elevation gain of over 4,000 meters, and a single ride lasting nearly 50 hours. The speakers offered cycling tips: travel as light as possible, find a companion, protect yourself from the sun, eat and drink constantly, avoid traffic, learn basic bike repair skills and carry tools, and limit daily cycling distance. They also described difficulties they encountered during their cycling journey, such as poor time management, bad tires, severe sunburn, and physical injury.

The assembly provided students with information about the upcoming TEDx annual event and, through authentic outdoor stories, inspired interest in cycling exploration.
