Pudong Campus: Spring Field Trip
With the spring breeze caressing the greenery and flowers in full bloom, this is the perfect time to embrace nature and enjoy the beauty of spring. To help students connect with nature, experience its vitality, and foster personal growth, all teachers and students in Grades 1–5 at the Shanghai International School Pudong Campus set off with great anticipation for Pujiang Country Park, embarking on a warm, joyful, and meaningful spring field trip.
Stepping into the park, the beautiful spring scenery unfolds before our eyes, and deep within each of us lies our very own B612 planet. First, everyone arrived at the Little Prince-themed flower exhibition, “The Miracle of Love and Flowers.” Countless flowers bloom in a staggered arrangement, meticulously crafted into various fantastical fairy-tale shapes. Vibrant and lifelike, it’s as if a fairy-tale world has been brought to life in a sea of flowers. The students paused to admire the display, murmuring their admiration, and took photos amidst the floral fragrance and childlike whimsy, creating a delightful contrast between the radiant spring scenery and their innocent smiles.
At noon, as the gentle sunlight streamed down, everyone settled in for a leisurely picnic on the lush green lawn. The students sat in a circle, sharing food and chatting about fun stories, showing care and looking out for one another, while laughter echoed across the lawn. With a gentle breeze caressing their faces and the scent of flowers in the air, the warm and wonderful atmosphere made this spring day even more precious.
Leaving the fairy-tale flower garden behind, the students arrived at the joyful “Little Yellow Duck Park.” The park offered a wealth of fun-filled activities, with the water slides and rainbow slides proving the most popular. The children raced down the slides, letting the breeze and their laughter carry them as they unleashed their youthful energy. The park also featured several balance-challenge activities, where the students bravely gave them a try and supported one another, building physical strength and gaining courage through each challenge.
Happy times always seem to fly by. After the fun-filled activities concluded, the students took the initiative to tidy up the area, packing away all trash—including lunch boxes and tissues—and leaving not a single piece of litter or scrap on the soft grass. These small acts of civility and environmental care carefully demonstrated the students’ strong sense of public morality and social responsibility.
During this spring field trip, the children encountered fairy tales amidst the blossoms, found joy in play, and learned responsibility through companionship. Not only did they connect with nature and relax both body and mind, but they also demonstrated excellent qualities of friendship, self-discipline, and responsibility through hands-on experience, creating a warm and unforgettable memory of their childhood.
