Lin'gang Campus: Spring Field Trip
With a gentle spring breeze in the air and nature coming back to life, the children of SHSID Lin'gang Campus set off on a spring exploration trip to the Beijiaobao Experience Center, filled with excitement and curiosity. This time, they stepped into a wonderful world where science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics come together. Through hands-on exploration and creative thinking, they discovered a unique kind of springtime fun. The Beijiaobao Experience Center features three main areas: the Tumbling Castle, the Planet Zone, and the STEAM Zone. Each class rotated through all three, ensuring that every corner of the center was filled with surprises and discoveries.
The first stop was the Tumbling Castle— a happy kingdom where children could let their energy run free. A colorful ball pit stretched out like a soft, vibrant ocean, and the kids jumped right in, their laughter bursting into the air. Winding climbing structures tested their courage and coordination, as little figures nimbly made their way through. Sliding boards of all shapes brought thrilling speeds— some children zoomed down with arms wide open, while others held hands with their friends and slid down together. There were also trampolines, building blocks, and interactive projection walls. Every activity kept the children engaged and delighted. Here, they climbed, jumped, and rolled to their hearts' content, building physical strength and friendships while learning to be brave and encourage one another.

Leaving the Tumbling Castle behind, the children entered the imaginative Planet Zone. This place felt like a three-dimensional science lab, where every mechanical device held a secret of physics. A giant conveyor belt slowly moved foam balls up to a high point; a complex network of winding tracks sent the balls racing along, speeding around curves and bouncing over bumps; a fascinating water vortex device used the power of flowing water to pull balls into the center of a swirl and then "spit" them back out. The children gathered around the machines, their eyes fixed on the path of each ball— sometimes watching in silent awe, sometimes bursting into excited cheers. "Look! The ball flew up!" "Why does it go faster on this track?" Questions popped out of their curious minds one after another. Through observation and thinking, abstract concepts like gravity, friction, and centrifugal force became something they could almost touch. Physics, they discovered, could be incredibly fun and lively!

The final stop was the STEAM Zone, a place that sparks creativity. Unlike the physics-focused Planet Zone, this area emphasized hands-on practice and artistic expression. The children turned into little inventors, using all kinds of materials to build, assemble, collage, and draw— turning their imaginative ideas into unique creations. Some focused intently on assembling gear mechanisms, a proud smile spreading across their faces as they watched each cog click into motion. Others immersed themselves in artistic creation, using colors and shapes to tell their own stories. Still others worked in teams, taking on challenges together and experiencing the power of collaboration through discussion and shared tasks. Every creation was one of a kind, shining with the children's wisdom and imagination. Here, they not only learned how to identify and solve problems but also built confidence through making and experiencing the wonderful blend of science and art.

At lunchtime, the children sat together, opening their well-packed backpacks to share delicious food and stories from their explorations. "Did you see that giant vortex in the Planet Zone?" "I built the SHSID logo in the STEAM Zone!" Laughter and cheerful conversation, warmed by the spring sunshine, filled every corner of the room.
This spring field trip was not just an outing to enjoy the beautiful season— it was a living, moving STEAM classroom. As the day came to an end, the children still had so much to say, expressing how fun science could truly be. They will carry the confidence and curiosity they gained through hands-on experience as they continue to explore the vast ocean of knowledge with courage and joy.
