Middle School Science Department: A Scientific Gambit Across Six Kingdoms
As the final "Ecological Peak Showdown" drew to a close on May 13, the Grade 6 science project, EcoBattle!, officially reached a successful conclusion. Over the past few weeks, students transformed into biologists and game designers, sparking a campus-wide wave of exploration into biodiversity through rigorous research and creative design.
From Lab to Design Table: Rigorous Scientific Exploration
The core objective of this activity was to help students deeply understand the six kingdoms of life and their roles within ecosystems. To enhance the breadth and depth of the research, the project covered diverse global ecosystems, including regions such as the UK, Canada, Australia, South America, Asia, Africa, and the Arctic.
Each class was assigned a specific ecosystem, and every student received a species task corresponding to that environment, creating two tailor-made EcoBattle! exclusive cards. This was not merely an artistic endeavor, but a rigorous scientific study.
Teachers and Students Competing for Honor: More Than a Battle of "Stats"
Notably, teachers also personally participated in designing cards, joining students to refine scientific accuracy and creativity. Alongside the intense card battle sessions, the Science Department organized a Card Competition, selecting outstanding works based on scientific precision, visual design, and numerical balance.

During the battles, students gained a profound understanding of the true meaning of "ecological balance." According to the rules, the total sum of stats for each card was limited to 400 points. This meant there were no perfect "all-rounders": while an elephant might hold an absolute advantage in size, it might fall short of the resilient dandelion in terms of environmental adaptability. Students competed for cards by comparing stats and engaged in intellectual gambits during "tiebreakers" when scores were even.

Harvest and Growth: A Comprehensive Boost in Scientific Literacy
This project provided a comprehensive assessment of students' information retrieval, logical thinking, digital literacy, and time management skills. Through a model of "independent research + card creation + classroom competition," students not only made academic breakthroughs but also showcased excellence in creativity and independence.
Although the EcoBattle! activity has ended, the curiosity and reverence for nature it planted in the students' hearts will continue to grow. As the project introduction states: "The Tree of Life is evergreen, and the footsteps of exploration never stop."
