Lin'gang Campus: Charity Fair

May 28, 2026

Recently, students in Grades 1 to 3 at SHSID Lingang Campus welcomed their annual Spring Charity Fair. This year's theme was "Caring Today, Changing Tomorrow – A Drop of Love, A Lake of Hope." Handmade "gift blind boxes," creative crafts, and a heartwarming choir performance all came together to let kindness flow quietly through the campus. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Pudong New Area Red Cross to support children suffering from serious illnesses.

One Week of Preparation: Every Mystery Bag Carries a Heart

In the week leading up to the charity fair, the children were already quietly busy. They carefully designed their own mystery bag – some painted rainbows and flowers, some covered them with glitter and stickers, and others wrote sweet little messages like "I hope you like it" in their young handwriting. Then, they tucked small toys, origami creations, cute stationery, and other meaningful little gifts inside, sealed the bags, and sent them to school. On the day of the fair, these blind boxes were neatly displayed on a dedicated booth, waiting for their new owners. Each mystery bag was not only an unknown surprise but also a beating heart of love.

Creative Crafts: An Extra Touch of Love from After-School Clubs

In addition to the blind box booth, this year's fair featured another special highlight – booths run by students from the elective handicraft class and the 3D printing after-school club. In the handicraft class, children used colored paper, fabric, clay, and other materials to create delicate and adorable handmade pieces. The young designers from the 3D printing club brought their own keychains and small ornaments to the fair. These works, full of creativity and patience, not only caught the eyes of many young shoppers but also helped the children realize how meaningful it is to create something with their own hands and use that value to help others.

Opening Chorus: Healing the World with Song

The charity fair began with a warm choral performance. Students from Class 1-1, Class 2-2, and Class 3-2 stood on stage together and sang the classic song "Heal the World." Their clear young voices echoed through the campus, and every line of "Heal the world, make it a better place" gently landed in everyone's heart. The children in the audience listened quietly; some hummed along softly, while others had shining eyes. After the song, the fair officially opened, and the campus instantly became a lively, heartwarming charity marketplace.

Love Gathers: A Drop of Love, A Lake of Hope

At the fair, booths lined the grounds, bustling with activity. Books, toys, handmade crafts, and homemade treats – a dazzling array of goods greeted the young shoppers. This year also featured a special VR game booth, which drew long lines of eager children, filling the air with laughter and excitement.

Children wandered from booth to booth, carefully choosing items they liked while using their pocket money to send a little kindness to those in need. Teachers and parent volunteers also joined in with enthusiasm – some helped with promoting the booths, some handled the cash, and others cheered the children on from the sidelines. High school students from Shanghai East High School also visited the fair. And one parent specially prepared homemade ice jelly to cheer on the students about to take their college entrance exams, adding an extra layer of warmth to this heartfelt event.

"Caring Today, Changing Tomorrow!" – every small act of kindness may seem tiny on its own, but when many loving hearts come together, they form a warm lake of compassion. This charity fair not only allowed children to learn about sharing and cherishing what they have through hands-on experience, but also helped them understand that, even as young as they are, they can help change tomorrow's world in their own ways.

Kindness never ends, and good deeds never stop. See you again next spring!
