High School Students Attended Children’s Foundation Science and Technology Charity Event
Recently, the opening ceremony of the “Scientists and Engineers ‘Big Hand in Small Hand – For Love We Go’ 2026 Children and Youth Practice Education and Technology Exhibition Charity Tour,” organized by the Shanghai Children’s Foundation, was successfully held. Responding actively to the call of public welfare, our school organized students to take part in various segments, including science lectures, scientist exchange forums, and a charity fair for science and technology innovation, injecting vigorous energy into youth charity initiatives with their youthful wisdom and passion for technology.

During the science lecture segment of the event, two of our students, Julie and Michelle, delivered wonderful presentations. Julie systematically introduced the daily operations of our school’s FTC robotics club and reviewed the club’s outstanding achievements in annual competitions. Michelle, on the other hand, focused on her personal research project, offering a clear and accessible explanation of her progress and findings on “heat-resistant reverse transcriptase.” Drawing from their own experiences, both students sincerely called on the young audience to engage in scientific and technological innovation and to ignite their dreams of science. Their confident delivery and solid knowledge won warm applause from the audience.

The event also featured a special forum session for exchanges with veteran scientists. Two of our students actively raised questions, humbly seeking advice from the scientists on topics such as scientific exploration and engineering practice. The experts responded patiently and encouraged the young participants to stay curious and embrace trial and error. The students noted that the face-to-face interaction with the scientists greatly broadened their horizons in scientific research and reinforced their determination to pursue innovation in science and technology.

Meanwhile, at the concurrent charity fair for science and technology innovation, several student clubs and individual projects from our school made a collective appearance and became the center of attention. The exhibiting teams included: the GT Racing Club, the Data Science Club, the iGEM School Team, the Medical Club, the Shanghai High School Robotics Competition Club, as well as two individual projects from Grade 9 students. The projects covered a range of cutting-edge fields including robotics, data science, synthetic biology, medical health and so on. They were exquisitely designed and highly interactive, attracting many visitors to stop and experience them. During the exhibition, the students proactively explained the principles behind their work and shared their research journeys, using the charity fair as a platform to sow the seeds of technological innovation among a broader youth audience.

This charity event was not only a showcase of our students’ achievements in science and technology innovation but also a vivid practice of our school’s philosophy of charity education. The school has always encouraged students to step out of the classroom, serve society, and give back to public welfare with their knowledge and skills. Students who participated expressed that being able to support youth science enlightenment through lectures, demonstrations, and other forms was an extraordinarily meaningful growth experience. Looking ahead, our school will continue to deepen the educational approach that integrates science and charity, support more students in honing their abilities and spreading love through practice, and contribute wisdom and strength to the cause of science and technology education for children and youth.
