Grades 11-12 Poster Exhibition: Pursuing Dreams Fearlessly in the Year of the Dragon

March 8, 2024

As we usher in the Year of the Dragon, students from grades 11 and 12 have been preparing posters to decorate their homerooms and wishing for a prosperous year. Students in each homeroom worked hard and collaborated with one another to complete the designing of the posters. By the end of the second week, each homeroom was filled with the spirit of New Year’s as beautiful posters were designed for the backs of the classrooms.

The 11th-grade homerooms focused on the theme of “Pursuing Dreams Fearlessly”. In each homeroom, there hung colorful dragons arching through the wall along with red New Year’s decorations, designed in all shapes and sizes. One class designed a poster of their own interpretation of the theme and produced an intricate drawing of a spiral galaxy, complete with surrounding planets and stars. In the center of the wall is a large cut-out of a star, with each tail connected to long string extensions across the wall. On each string, they attached little notes of the students’ goals for 2024, truly completing their unique interpretation of the theme “Pursuing Dreams Fearlessly”. Another class created a cut-out of a dragon, surrounded by traditional Chinese posters wishing for a good year. The dragon, ornate with layers of yellow and red paper, exhibited the students’ efforts and attention to detail.

Meanwhile, the 12th-grade homeroom posters oriented around the topic of “The Soaring of the Dragons”. Their classrooms were similarly decorated with elements ranging from paper origami to hand drawings. One class hung a large origami accordion-like folding of a colorful dragon, creating a 3D and thus more lively decoration. Under the dragon were various paper origami ranging from cranes to butterflies, each carefully folded and encapsulating students’ wishes for a prosperous year. Another class created hand drawings of various traditional Chinese elements that signify prosperity and wealth, including goldfish and ingots.

Looking around, each homeroom vibrates with the eagerness and anticipation that students hold for the new year. Hope you all have a prosperous Year of the Dragon!
