Puxi Campus Grades 4-5: The Music Is a Wonderful Song to Welcome the New Year
At the end of the year 2021, the fourth grade had their annual “Christmas and New Year Concert,” where each student had the opportunity to perform on stage. It was a great way to welcome the New Year with music.
The students of ASB were the little helpers of this concert. They helped to design the various parts of the concert and maintain the order of the venue so that every student in the venue could enjoy the music well.
Eleven pieces of music were presented one by one, and all the students at the event were mesmerized. The melody of “City in the Sky” was played by Emily’s harp from class 4-2, started the Christmas and New Year concert.
Stephen from class 4-4 played the song “Let the Horses Go” on the piano, which is not in the style of the prairie and does not have the momentum of the galloping horses but has the liveliness and elegance of Yunnan folk songs.
The two cello exercises presented by Jenny, from class 4-4, and the children from class 5-8 brought out the beauty of the cello. Listening to the sound of the cello is like being in a dense wood, with the old trunk of the tree whispering through the cracks of the sun, the sound is like the rhythm of the earth’s breath absorbed by the old tree from the deepest part of its roots, sometimes low, sometimes mellifluous.
Harry, from class 4-5, brought his guitar and played a popular song “Ordinary World.” Those beautiful notes flowed slowly from the strings and made people follow into the world of music.
The flute of class 4-4 brought “A Thousand and One,” which immediately drew us back to the time in the movie, and the simple sound of the piano captured and expressed a lot of complex emotions.
Max and Vivian from class 4-5, Glenn from class 4-6, and Lan and Oliver from class 4-8 played enchanting melodies through the piano. The interlocking black and white keys vibrated with incredible music under their skillful hands. The sound of the piano is simple yet rich, soft like the winter sun, full of light and warmth and calmness; strong like the roaring deep sea, shaking the hearts.
Each fourth-grader gave a round of applause after each wonderful performance, they enjoyed the music and even more so the process of sharing it with their peers.
Behind the wonderful presentation at the concert was the diligent study and practice of each student off stage, in class, and in their own spare time. The charm of music is irresistible, and the beauty of music makes us feel the joy of harvest.
