Puxi Campus Grades 1-3: Fond Memories from Art Festival
Under the joyful atmosphere, the annual Art Festival of Shanghai High School International Division Puxi Campus Grades 1-3 finally came!
3, 2, 1! The art festival started with the children’s countdown shouts. The Children’s Choir brought the first performance, and the voices of the little singers warmed everybody at the big auditorium. Then, the curtain fell, and the six hosts from three grades came to the stage. Though young, all of them confidently addressed the audience with their words catching everyone’s attention. As they announced “Shanghai High School International Division Primary Section Art Festival officially started,” the show of stunning performances began!
Some of the grade one students turned into cute little penguins while shaking their heads and wagging their tails. Some turned into handsome little yellow ducks in dynamic music, proclaiming their vitality. Others traveled through ancient times and told their stories through singing, poems, and drum beats.
The grade two students also showed their best. To the audience’s delight, the stories such as “The Sound of Music,” “Peak Burst,” “ Zootopia” took them to places all over the world and different periods of human history. The audience was so immersed in the performances, with their thoughts traveling to different times and spaces.
Between the first and second grades’ performances, the Santa Lucky Draw was conducted. Students all reacted excitedly as they saw Santa walk into the auditorium carrying a big bag full of gifts. Ms. Liu Fang, SHSID middle and primary vice principal, Ms. Miao Xiaoling, middle and primary school principal’s assistant, and Ms. Zhang Yi, director of the Puxi campus grades 1-3, announced the lucky students. The children gladly accepted the gifts, looking forward to the upcoming new year.
Following the lucky draw, the amazing performances continued as the grade three shining stars went on the stage. Whether it was opera or street dance, singing or recitation, the performancesmade the audience spontaneously burst into cheers and applause!
While students were still immersed in the performances presented by each class, the boy’s dancing club took the stage. With cool black sweaters and refreshing hairstyles, the dancers knocked everyone’s heartstrings. The style of the girl’s dancing club was quite different. Without a strong rhythm, it demonstrated the gentleness of south China. The little girls, dressed in Miao costumes, danced beautifully and gracefully on the stage. The finale performance was a dance prepared by the teachers. When students saw their beloved teachers bring such energy of dance to the stage, the rapturous cheers filled the auditorium.
At the end of the show, Director Zhang gave a speech, thanking the teachers, students, and staff behind the scenes for their hard work on this year’s art festival. Without everyone’s efforts, we would not have such a splendid grand occasion today. She also sent New Year greetings to all students, teachers, and parents.
According to the pandemic prevention and control measures, parents watched the art festival show online. Even through the screen, everyone could still feel the exciting atmosphere of the scene.
In the cheers and laughter, the children waved goodbye to the fulfilling 2021 and anticipated a promising 2022. As art appreciation improves our attitudes towards life, we hope that students can always find joy in art!
