Highlight Activities of MCG Philharmonics: Charity Concert

December 20, 2021

“When words fail, music speaks.”

Formerly known as the MCG SL Group that was created in September of 2020, the reinvigorated MCG Philharmonics Club is composed of 30 talented young instrumental musicians and singers. In this club, singers, dancers, and an ensemble perform and enjoy music together. As the young performers have always participated in art festivals and previous charity concerts, and carried out amazing performances, the club held a charity concert on 11/27 to present its members’ efforts and progress. In addition, profits earned from ticket sales were donated as charitable funds to those in need as a means of volunteering.

The charity concert held on 11/27 consisted of a variety of performances, ranging from classical instrument shows to popular singing and dancing. Beyond the sweetest of melodies and most engaging of rhythms, the audience was also able to appreciate the hard work all performers put into making the concert as perfect as possible. Only through rounds and rounds of rehearsals and test runs was the event able to proceed smoothly and course through the night without facing any obstacles.

On the other hand, the unique impact each performance had on the audience was irreplaceable by any other form of visual art or aesthetic. The harmonious notes that echoed within rooms broke all physical barriers and helped spectators transcend into a wonderful realm of pure sensation and emotion. Throughout the concert, students, parents, and teachers alike were able to relax and escape from their busy day-to-day activities for once. The MCG Philharmonics will donate all their gathered donations from the charity concert to Shanghai School for the Blind through cooperation with The Louver.

Overall, the charity concert was a huge success in all aspects regarding income and audience experience. We look forward to the Christmas concert that will be held on 12/23.
