Grade 10: Club Activity Sharing – AN Club
During recent months, the unexpected coronavirus outbreak has deeply affected everyone’s daily lives. The pandemic has caused fear and anxiety to rise around the globe, and it is a difficult time to endure. Every month, AN Club has created themed art albums and sent them to children’s hospitals across Shanghai.
Due to the virus outbreak, club members were unable to visit patients in person. Instead, the club found an online alternative to share their artwork. A few days ago, AN Club published an artwork compilation to spread positivity within the community. The video consists of two parts: ‘fighting coronavirus’ themed artwork and greetings from club members. Though club events normally take place offline, during this unusual time period, AN Club uploaded the artwork and greetings online. By uploading on Bilibili, a larger, more diverse audience can view and appreciate their art. Numerous club members also recorded greetings to show their support for hospital staff and high-risk areas. So far, the video has hundreds of views, and the numbers continue to grow.
In the upcoming months, AN Club will continue to design and release themed art albums. In addition, the club will take advantage of online platforms to conduct more club activities. For AN Club’s next art album, club members will design digital posters to encourage people to think positively and act rationally. Additionally, even though a temporary pause has been placed on hospital visits, AN Club has found alternative ways to support local hospitals. For example, they are planning online charity events to raise funds to buy hospital equipment. The most important lesson learnt through planning and implementing these activities is that there are countless ways to give back to your community at home.
Committing to club and service activities at home is not easy, especially under the current circumstances. Persistence is very important because no one is there to push and motivate students to participate in club activities. It is often helpful to remember that everyone has been affected by the coronavirus outbreak. At this very moment, millions of hospital staff members, charity workers, and volunteers are playing their part in the fight against the coronavirus. As world citizens, students also need to give back to the community in their own ways. To start off, a student should take care of themselves, then proceed to help make a change in their community. There are many CAS activities that a student can pursue at home. For example, exercising regularly to keep oneself healthy and pursuing new hobbies, like learning photography, making music and cooking. Students can give back to their community by writing school articles to update others on recent news or reading books and drawing to make a difference. It’s never too late to start!
