Puxi Grade 3 Chinese Activity:If I Were A Teacher
Students always say that they are very jealous of teachers because teachers do not have much schoolwork. However, is that really the case? Is teaching as easy as they see? What on earth is teaching like in real world? To give the students an authentic experience, the Puxi Grade 3 Chinese class carried out an experiential activity calledIf I were the teacheron December 18th.
This activity divided the whole class into 5 groups, respectively teaching vocabulary, phrases, text analysis, key points and review. After more than one week of preparation, the students all took turns showcasing their teaching abilities. Evidently, they were very well prepared: some modeled how to read each word and asked the class to repeat after them, some designed various activities to foster an engaging atmosphere, some stopped disruptive behavior immediately once they saw it, and some answered questions in a confident manner. However, some reached a dead end when confronted with hard question, and some even sighed while students were whispering. At last, teachers gave instant feedback.
All students now understand that it is never an easy job to be a teacher. Teaching is way more than passing on knowledge. This opportunity has aroused students’ empathy through experiential learning so that they can strengthen their awareness of taking more responsibility for their learning.
