December 17, 2019

Students from grades four and five participated in “The City I Live in: Shanghai”—2019 Shanghai Schools for Children of Foreign Personnel Student Essay Competition, and we are glad to hear that some of our students won prizes!

Annie from Class 4(1) and Arianna from Class 4(2) obtained the first-place prize in the primary school group level. Five students from Grade 5 also won the second-place prize. Ms. Lu Luting and Ms. Dong Xiaoqing were awarded the title of Outstanding Instructor.

On December 13th, the Director of Grades 4 and 5 took pictures for the winning students in the lobby. Ms. Bao Guohong, Middle and Primary School Vice Principal briefly interviewed the winning students about their essays and their feelings towards Shanghai. Annie from Class 4 (1) said, "I was born in Hong Kong, but I grew up in Shanghai, so I have deep feelings to this city. In this essay competition, I mainly wrote about the beauty of cheongsam in Shanghai. I think cheongsam is the most unique culture that shows the openness of Shanghai." Arianna form Class 4 (2) said, "I grew up in Shanghai. The most familiar place to me is the community I live in. The change of the community is the same as that of the city. I wrote in my essay about the beautiful changes of the community with the city."

The winning instructors said, “Most students were born in Shanghai and also grew up in this city. They said they were deeply impressed by the city's vigor and spirit as well as its breath-taking growth and progress. In their essays, Shanghai is described as a colorful and wonderful city, which demonstrates their deep love of this great city.”

Congratulations to these students and teachers! We hope more students will show their love for Shanghai and write their unique stories about Shanghai in the Chinese language!
