ASDAN Business Simulation: SHSID Students Won Excellent Prizes
Two teams of students from 8th grade and one team of students from 10th grade participated in the ASDAN Business Simulation held from November 23rd to 24th and from November 30th to December 1st respectively in Shanghai. They learnt how to run a business and set strategies. In this process, they simulated operations, took part in a roadshow and business battles. Eventually, one team of 8th grade students successfully made it into the finals and won the Bronze Award, and the team of 10th grade students was awarded the Best Roadshow Team.
The ASDAN Business Simulation was created in an effort to help the aspiring business leaders and entrepreneurs of tomorrow grasp a better logistical and strategic understanding of how to run a business. During the simulation, students were actively involved in creating and deciding every aspect of their business from their company culture to their production needs. The interactive aspect of the simulation was a great way for students to get involved in thinking about the practicalities of running a business.
Each company was composed of 6 to 8 students, and they chose a city to operate in. While simulating operations, students decided upon the financial aspects of their companies through choosing how to spend the initial investment given to them. These financial decisions included staff numbers, salaries, marketing and research costs and the final price of their product. They also conducted roadshows and business battles. Presentations required the teams to deliver sale pitches to judges in order to gain financial backing. The goal for all of the companies was to get their resources into the market. The winner was the company with highest amount of resources on the market and highest net property.
During the competition, the students showed great team spirit and actively discussed different strategies. They also showed great confidence in their presentations. Congratulations to them again!
