Grade 7: Reading Group—Book Recommendation
During reading time on October 29th, members of the seventh grade Reading Group held a book recommendation session for the fourth graders. The activity ended up being both fun and productive.
The students were separated into four groups of four, each group being in charge of a specific classroom. The 7th graders visited class 4(4). Norah from 7(8), Katrina from 7(11), Chloe from 7(3), and Angela from 7(1) all presented their own books:ShiSheng,A Street Cat Named Bob,The Giver, andEducated, respectively. Each student presented their book, either in English or in Chinese, with a carefully prepared PowerPoint, which took about 5 minutes. The student audience listened with fascination—laughing joyfully at familiar names and responding actively at shocking information.

The book recommendation session was a great success. Although it was only 20 minutes, everyone learned something new. The students of fourth grade discovered new and exciting books to read that ranged from fiction to autobiographies, while the seventh graders experienced giving a presentation to other students. All in all, it was a good activity to say the least.
