SHSID Middle School:Sports Meet Sports Carnival

October 14, 2019

After nearly two hours of competition, the final dust of each event had settled, and the sports events were temporarily concluded. Everyone took some time to rest. After lunch, it was time for the event that all students were expecting the most: The Carnival.

The students were not able to resist the temptation to participate in the games. They couldn’t wait for the teachers to arrive and had already started to queue themselves. The Carnival’s events were different from the morning’s competitions. Instead of traditional sports, the Carnival was full of fun and entertainment. Individual events included darts, basketball challenges, and badminton. The sports seemed easy but were actually hard to play. Some students' clumsy actions were hilarious and made everyone laugh. Team activities included relays and cooperation, which tested tacit understanding and collaboration. The hula hoop relay not only required the competitors to be quick-eyed and quick-handed, but also demanded a high degree of coordination. Once mistakes were made, the team would slow down. Every student took his/her own signature card to shuttle in front of the desk of each game. They smiled sweetly when their card was covered fully by stamps. Each and every student calculated what surprise gifts they could earn. Even though some may not have gotten many stamps or may not have participated in all the games, they were never disappointed. All of the students had an especially good time playing all the games, and seeing the happy faces of other students, the teachers finally showed satisfied grins.

Happy times always pass quickly. When we returned to the stands, we continued to enjoy the wonderful performance matches and traditional relay events of the eighth-grade students and teachers’ teams. The games ended with happy laughter. All of the students agreed that although they were extremely tired, their mental states were unusually full. Even though it was only one day, we still deeply appreciated the hardship and joy of sports and learned the meaning of persistence and teamwork. Let's look forward to students bringing faster, higher, and stronger sportsmanship to every corner of this campus, to every moment of life. Let’s all work together to make SHSID a more colorful place!
