Grade 10: Explore Yourself & Time Management

September 6, 2019

In the afternoon of September 4th, there were two periods of CAS activity classes for the 10th graders with the themes: “explore yourself” and “time management”.

The first period of the activity occurred in homeroom classes. Students spent the whole class considering “Who I Am”, a topic first raised by Plato more than two thousand years ago. This question evokes many thought-provoking questions, many of which apply to students’ lives today. Students received a worksheet that asked them to identify their interests, foundations, and their road map for the future. As students thought about these questions, meaningful discussions were generated around the homeroom classrooms.

The second part of the activity was hosted by the ASBs in the Lecture Hall. The event began with the ASBs and the audience sharing personal experiences with procrastination. The ASBs gave very pertinent advice, such as getting up early, setting an alarm for every 5 minutes, and sleeping in a quiet and dark environment. Students brought up both the positives and negatives of procrastination, as well as funny experiences they had with it. The next part of the event was “Never Have I Ever”. This game was a fun way to assess how much everyone procrastinates. The last part of the event was a Q&A focusing on questions about procrastination. Some interesting responses brought lighthearted laughter across the grade.

Although the first week of school has only just begun, work and stress can already be quite overwhelming. This fun and inspirational event may have given many students a much more optimistic mindset for the new school year. It is time for the 10th grade students to start forming new good habits and working hard in the brand-new school year and in a brand-new building.
