Grade 12: Senior Orientation -- Day 1
On September 2nd, all SHSID seniors headed to Sun and Moon Island for their 'Self Discovery' senior orientation trip. At the Action Camp, students worked through individual challenges and group challenges under the instructions of their coaches.
Upon arrival, students were randomly divided into 12 groups, which encouraged them to engage with small yet diverse groups of students. After lunch, students played a game of information transfer, in which groups of students, organized in rows, were required to transfer number codes only through the sense of touch—without using sight or sound. After the game, both students and teachers went out for a scenic walk around the Dianshan Lake nearby. Though the original 13-km-hike was canceled due to heavy rain, students still enjoyed each other's company and the beauty of the nature along the lake. After their walk, students assembled into a big circle and practiced the cup dance. All of these activities strengthened the cooperation and organization skills of the students, making them a worthwhile experience.
After dinner, students gathered in the auditorium to watch each team perform a skit presenting their insights on their unique experiences studying at SHSID, as well as their hopes and expectations for their upcoming senior year.
