Foreign Teacher Team Building
During the rainy afternoon of Monday, February 18th, all of the foreign faculty at SHSID gathered inside the gymnasium to participate in an exciting five-part team building relay held by FAO. After thirty minutes of high-energy Zumba dancing, everyone was warmed up and ready for the challenges awaiting them. The teachers were divided into the red, green, yellow, and blue team, which were made up of teachers from grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12, respectively. Watching from the stands, it was clear that each team had an unquenchable thirst for glory. After the presenters explained each race, the teams were given ample time to practice and strategize for the competition ahead.
The first relay race required the teachers to move quickly in unison as they rushed to carry a colossal caterpillar across the gym. In the next task, teammates banded together to successfully throw a ball into a small goal using a giant tennis racquet. The race to follow required feats of devastating strength as the teachers flipped monstrous pencils across the room in concerted efforts. Teams then took turns strapping themselves into inflatable rockets and rushing towards the goal. This was especially challenging as some teachers had to run backwards and rely on their teammates to guide them. More than one team was tripped up during the scramble towards the finish line. Finally, in the most difficult stage, teams were tasked with carrying a long column while carefully balancing yoga balls between them. It was truly heartwarming to see our fine educators immersed in friendly competition.
In a separate, bonus stage, each team lined up to take part in the “T-shirt challenge”, in which they raced to move a single T-shirt from one person to another without breaking the chain. Ultimately, the yellow team was crowned the overall winner of the relay and awarded a lovely bottle of champagne. The red team was then awarded the coveted T-shirt challenge trophy. As the competition came to a close, each participant showed true sportsmanship as they rejoiced with their colleagues. While all of the teachers were exhausted by the end of the day, it was clear that they shared a bonding experience that will stay in their minds for years to come.
