Puxi Grade 5:Native Chinese Idioms Dictation Competition
The award ceremony for the Native Chinese Idioms Dictation Competition was held recently. The first round was easy but stressful. This was an important stage that helped pick out the students that would attend the final round. The first round took place in each native Chinese class. The top three students could move on to the final round. The final round was much more intense than the previous one. The idioms dictated were harder and the students had to write onstage with an audience watching them, which made them feel much more pressure than the first round. During the final round, the audience could look at the pinyin and listen to what the teacher announced. According to the explanation they heard, the students wrote the idioms down in their notebook. The contestants of the final round could only listen to the idiom and explanation, then write their answer on a whiteboard. The teachers would check the answers of the contestants at the end. There were three groups of contestants, and the top three from each group proceeded into the last round. Both S and H level native Chinese classes competed together. The top three places received prizes as well as applause at the award ceremony. We hope more students will fully appreciate Chinese culture in the future.
