Puxi Grade 4: Self-Management Skills
Puxi Grade 4: Self-Management Skills
During the P&B class on December 13th, the fourth-grade teachers helped students understand self-management and how to apply this skill to their daily life.
Self-management skills consist of self-control and organization. Self-management has overarching effects on an individual’s ability to tolerate unmet wants or needs, handle disappointments and failures, and work towards success. To help students have a better understanding of self-management, teachers played two interesting games with students. In the first game, two children carried an object of their choice (ball, pencil, stuffed animal, etc.) down a path and back again by using designated body parts. After this game, teachers talked to students about the power of teamwork, about being comfortable with friends, and controlling emotions. The second game was called self-control bubbles. The teacher blew some bubbles in the air, and the first-time students could pop them to their heart’s content. But second time, the kids could not pop (or even touch) the bubbles, even if one landed right on their nose. After this game, teachers talked about how it feels to resist the temptation to pop the bubbles and they understood what self-control was.
We hope our kids can show self-management in their daily lives and be more mature and independent!
