Grade 12: Dodge Ball Competition
Grade 12: Dodge Ball Competition
On Wednesday November 11th the Xian Mian building held a Dodge Ball Competition. In the morning, homeroom teachers counted 20 volunteer competitors for that afternoon’s game. Each team is made up of two classes, grouped together randomly. During the CAS class that afternoon, seniors traveled to the outdoors tennis court. Students lined up in a row to be counted off, when both teams had no more than 20 players, the first throw is fired.
On the court, there are players who actively caught the ball in order to turn their dodging into throwing and other players who took on the tactic of avoiding the ball all through the games. These players served to add to the headcount and make sure not too many players were lost to the other side. When the number of players alive dwindled, the remaining players passed the dodge ball to players on the other side so they could save themselves by successfully hitting an opposing player.
The last round, class 1 and 2 against class 7 and 8 was arguably the most intense round. One moment, class 1 and 2 were losing players nonstop and the next they would return to the game one after another. Class 7 and 8 had strong players who were talented in aiming, throwing, as well as dodging. The final round was an incredibly close game; as the dodge ball was passed from one team to another, the winner’s title seemed to go back and forth, too. When the final second was called, remaining players were 9:6 with class 1 and 2 in the first place. Congratulations and cheers to the great teamwork between all classes!
