Grade 8: 8th Graders’ Visit to GuangCi Children’s Welfare House
Grade 8: 8th Graders’ Visit to GuangCi Children’s Welfare House
On November 7, 2015, a group of SHSID students organized a trip to the GuangCi Children’s Welfare House. It is the only non-governmental children’s welfare house inShanghai, and it is mainly dedicated to helping parent-less children with inherited diseases such as blindness.
Upon arrival, our group members first got into three groups, and went to see and play with the children in the main house. Although some of them looked a little uncomfortable when we first went into the classroom, soon, the children were laughing and playing happily with their new found friends.
During the children’s lunch and afternoon napping time, the group members went first to listen to the speech of the founder of this welfare house, and then, to bake cookies and make deserts in the smaller work house, where the graduated children from the welfare house worked to earn money.
All in all, we spent an inspiring day in the GuangCi Children’s Welfare House. Not only did we learn about the daily lives of people we don’t get to see often in our life, but we also learned about the happiness of helping the people who need our help.
