Pudong G3: Reading Corner
Pudong G3: Reading Corner
We are making a special effort to encourage students to read for their enjoyment and share their reading with others. To encourage them, we have created an awesome reading corner in the classrooms. The new reading policy focuses on the following two parts:
1. To share their reading with others.
Each student is requested to bring one of his or her current favorite story books or non-fiction books to school next Monday (Sept. 14). All of the books will be exhibited on the class bookshelf. The students can read them during any free time from Monday to Friday. Every Friday, the students are free to exchange their own books to read for the weekend and bring back the following Monday. The pattern repeats every month, which means each student takes his or her own book back at the end of September, and brings a new book to school in October.
2. To trace the students’ reading progress for teachers.
After reading a book, each student is required to make a record on their reading log. When they fill in one piece of the reading log (5 books on each page), they can trade it for a praising note. Teachers talk with the students about the books that they have read before giving them a praising note.
We hope that our students can read and share as many books as possible for their enjoyment.
