Grade 9: Summer programs at Oxford and UC-Berkeley
This program provides all kinds of activities and opportunities for students to learn and develop their future careers. This summer program allows students to explore their interests, find out where they want to study, and prepare for college. There will be no test requirements; however, students will be interviewed by a teacher during the summer program to determine which level of English they are in.
The programs are usually last three weeks. The first week focuses on specialist subjects. Students get to choose subjects that they are most interested in and study with professors. There are eight main subjects that students are able to choose in the first week. 1. Economics 2. Law and International Relations 3. Medicine Science/Psychology 4. STEM (science) 5. Art 6. Writing 7. Drama or Theater 8. Music. The second week is to prepare students’ language abilities. The third week is to have students practice their leadership abilities. Students who enroll in this program will learn the importance of teamwork, the skills for debate and oration, and how to be a leader. In this summer program there are teachers who will help students draft out their personal essays or statements. Interview practice is also provided to help students have a better understanding of how college interviews work.
