Pu Xi Grade 2: Wonderful Book Week

Week 7 was Grade 2’s Book Week. During Book Week, all the Grade 2 students read a variety of books and enjoyed the prepared activities that accompanied each story. The students felt like they were living in a fairytale, deriving great joy from both the books and the activities.

Planting Beans

During Monday’s Read Aloud, the kids listened to the story ofJack and the Beanstalkand were deeply interested in Jack’s magical experiences. In the following English writing class, just like Jack, they planted beans in pots. After that, they carefully placed the pots on the windowsill. In the following days, the kids have been checking on their beans from time to time, hoping they can be there to greet their sprouts at the moment they come out.

Making Wolf Puppets

Tuesday’s story wasLittle Red Riding Hood. The students loved the story very much but loved the associated activity even more. All of the students in Grade 2 used white socks to make wolf hand puppets that resembled the wolf from the story. They had a lot of fun decorating their puppets, making sure to give the wolf large eyes and sharp teeth. As soon as the bell rang, they put on their puppets and had a great time together. They were so happy!

Tasting Porridge

Wednesday’s Personal Growth class was very exciting as the children of Grade 2 got to taste porridge. After readingGoldilocks and the Three Bears, the students were very excited to know what the porridge would taste like. After the teacher made the porridge, every child got a chance to have a taste of it. Some children disliked the porridge, and some loved it and said they could definitely be a bear in the story of Goldilocks.

Making Bear Masks

During Thursday’s Personal Growth class, the children got to be very creative and were very busy making bear masks using paper plates and color paper. They loved the storyGoldilocks and the Three Bears. They also loved creating their own bear masks so that they could reenact the story themselves. Look at these lovely bear masks! How creative our kids are!

Friday Dress-Up

The students had been looking forward to Friday because Friday was dress-up day and they could dress up as their favorite character from their favorite book. The moment you entered the Grade 2 classroom on Friday morning, you felt like you were entering a magic world as you were surrounded by Cinderella, Harry Potter, Hello Kitty, Spider-Man, and various other characters. The students were so excited, and the classroom was full of smiles and laughter.

Book Week came to the end after dress-up day, but the joy of reading will continue.
